Evaluation of synovial fluid cytokines level in patients with knee osteoarthritis

Pham Thi Thien, Nguyen Ngoc Chau, Dang The Luc

Tóm tắt

Objectives: To evaluate the relationship between clinical, para-clinical characteristics and synovial fluid cytokines level in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee. Subjects and methods: Cross-sectional analysis on 34 patients with osteoarthritis of knee who had joint effusion at 103 Military Hospital from 2018 to July 2019. Evaluation of some clinical, para-clinical characteristics: age, BMI, pain level (caculated by VAS), radiographs, ultrasonography. The following inflammatory mediators were examined using the Luminex 200 system: IL-10, IL-12, INF-γ. Results: There was a positive, moderate correlation between INF-γ levels in SF and pain levels. The average IL-10 level in synovial fluid of patients graded in 1 and 2 (Xray) was significantly lower than that of patients in grade 3 (Xray). Conclusions: There was a positive correlation between INF-γ level in SF and pain levels; betweeen radiographs of the knee and IL-10. There was no correlation between IL-12 with clinical, para-clinical characteristics in patients with knee osteoarthritis. * Keywords: Osteoarthritis; Cytokine; IL-10; IL-12; INF-γ.
